Hi, I’m Emma, an award winning documentary family photographer.
I come into contact with lots of families in my line of work, it was through listening to parents during photoshoots that I realised there was a place for documentary within a nursery setting. So I set out to do something different from traditional nursery photography.
I create characterful environmental portraits and beautiful documentary images that parents love. It gives parents a chance to see from afar their child’s blossoming personality and what they get up to when they take their first steps away from home. There’s something lovely in capturing a sense of place too as nursery is such a special time.

WHAT IS DOCUMENTARY NURSERY PHOTOGRAPHY?
Fun: children can play as normal, they don’t even realise their photos are being taken.
Natural: capturing children without any posing means beautiful natural portraits full of character and expression.
Unique: it is not a studio conveyor belt, so every photo is different and focuses on capturing the unique personality of each child.
Context: incorporating the environment gives an insight into nursery life.
…It’s great for nurseries too as its less stressful for staff, and I can include staff photos and setting photos for advertising.

LOCATIONS
I photograph in homes and on location across Hertfordshire, London, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and the South East, including St Albans, Harpenden, Cambridge, Wheathampstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, Rickmansworth, Bishop’s Stortford, Hitchin, Letchworth.
I also regularly travel to photoshoots in Central London and North London, including Hampstead, St John’s Wood, Primrose Hill, Muswell Hill, Marylebone, Kensington, Clapham, Chiswick. I have photographed families all over the UK and around the world, including Canada, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Sweden and Singapore, please enquire for travel expenses.
